When we entered the service that Sunday morning who would have expected what happened in it. O’ yes we always have the Spirit of God and the anointing that greets us, sometimes even at the front door as we come in, but the Holy Spirit brought us something additional, something we have been praying about for a long time…A SPIRITUAL BREAKTHROUGH!
Right before it happened the pastor’s wife, Virginia, began to say quietly in her pew, “Breakthrough, breakthrough!” She moved out of her seat and began to march around the outside of the pews under the anointing of the Spirit saying quietly, “Breakthrough, breakthrough!”
Elder Mike Smith who did not hear Virginia and what she was saying, heard God’s voice inwardly and God was saying powerfully to him, “Breakthrough, breakthrough!” Later he came forward and gave his testimony of what God said and that is when we found out that the same thing had been revealed to Virginia by the Spirit of God.
God’s word comes to mind concerning these affirmations of the Spirit’s move, “In the mouth of two or three witnesses let a thing be established.” The witnesses were there. What happened Sunday? It’s obvious isn’t it? BREAKTHROUGH FOR OUR CHURCH FOR 2010!
Here are more details that happened after Virginia begin walking saying Breakthrough. Our Praise & Worship team was singing the praises and victories of God and all at once a powerful anointing struck the singers and your pastor. I rose up and we began to sing mightily in the Spirit together. It was like heaven and angels were singing along with us, it was awesome!
People began to move to the altar in the Spirit. As the people began to come tears were flowing, people were shouting, and some had fallen to their knees overwhelmed by the power of God in prayer and praise.
Wave after wave of the Holy Spirit just kept hitting us emotionally and we could not stop singing, in fact we didn’t want to stop singing and praising God, it felt so good.
As I led the singing, God quickened my mind to a verse that he had so clearly pointed out to me a few days before that I knew was meant for our church. “And with the encouragement of the Holy Spirit it (church) also grew in numbers.” (Acts 9:31b NLT).
When the service finally waned to an end, everyone was blessed, everyone was encouraged, and everyone was tired, and some of us hoarse…BUT WE WERE ALL HAPPY AND REFRESHED IN GOD. Truly God visited with us last Sunday, and I believe there are many more services like this coming.
Your Pastor and the Elders encourage you to not miss your church services if you can help it. All of us need revival and all of us need to feel God’s power healing us, refreshing us, and empowering us to reach others for Jesus.
I believe many answers to prayer were activated by the Spirit and answers began in that service. They are coming to pass even now.
Expect more great moves of God in our services and in our lives. Stay expecting. If you don’t, instead of knowing smiles on your faces, you may be open-mouthed, and in pleasant semi shock as you see and feel the mighty power of God in breakthrough! Amen, even so come Holy Spirit!
